El Bizcocho Taste Explorations: El Bizcocho restaurant at the Rancho Bernardo Inn will host monthly wine dinners until it closes for a $2 million remodel and renaming at the end of the summer. El Biz was the first California restaurant to offer winemaker dinners in the ’70s, so the Inn has brought them back as a tribute to the restaurant’s 44-year history.

Regional Taste Exploration, 6 p.m. July 26. The region-specific menu will pair wines and dishes specific to different grape-growing regions (a Napa wine with Napa dish, Italian wine with Italian dish, etc.), featuring wine pairings by Folio Fine Wine Partners. Cost is $149.

Locavore Taste Exploration, 6 p.m. Aug. 23. Dishes created by guest chef Paul Hancock and artisan cocktails, all inspired by local craftsmen, will bring together food and drinks with displays by Estaban Interiors, SD Urban Timber and local jewelers and artists, with live entertainment and produce from the Inn garden and other local markets. Cost is $129.

Beer vs. Wine Dinner, 6 p.m. Sept. 27. The sixth annual dinner allows diners to choose whether beer or wine makes the best pair for six dishes. Details will be announced soon.
