“More Than Candles” is a unique concept in candle making, each and every candle is hand crafted and molded creating a hollow compartment to hold a tea light candle or paraffin tank. When lit, an emanating and even glow reflects through and out the entire candle walls, setting an atmosphere of tranquility, warmth & intimacy with style. It is very attractive to the eye and soothing to the spirit. MTC’s candles are “Everlasting Candles” and a perfect decorative accent which sets a different atmosphere in any space, such as restaurants, spas, hotels, homes or special events.
My introduction to photography began when I was in Junior High School. I became more interested in photography approximately ten years ago while attending an intensive two week course in film and digital photography. My primary interest is taking photographs of landscapes and animals. Several of my photographs have been exhibited at Gallery 4311 previously located at San Diego Hospice and Institute of Palliative Medicine. Most recently, I displayed my photographs at the Rancho Bernardo Winery and Rancho Bernardo Inn.
Cindy Taylor has been creating rustic, artsy pieces for over 12 years. Loving the flexibility of being her own silversmith she has learned several ways to create, shape, mold, and manipulate silver into her whimsical, original pieces. Her affordable line is always changing; each piece is a one-of-a-kind. Now living in Tempe, AZ, she is originally from Ramona, CA. She has two grown daughters, three step daughters, two dogs and three cats. When she isn’t in her studio creating, she is a flight attendant traveling the US.
Paintings & Jewelry Art
Jasper Lysander established iliahi designs in 2013 to share her passion for delicate, handcrafted designs and fine materials. Originally from Hawaii but settling in Northern California, Jasper has gathered inspiration from the beauty of her surroundings and devoted her self to incorporating natural elements into her design. Throughout the years of her adolescence Jasper made jewelry a creative outlet and eventually studied art and small metals in Humboldt, California. Iliahi designs aim to combine the delicate and rustic elements of nature to create elegant designs that are cherished by the people who wear them. Iliahi designs are handcrafted with quality metals, precious and semi-precious stones and utilize natural elements such as leather and wood.
Paintings & Jewelry Art
I enjoy working in a series. I go to a place, take photos, paint on location, write thoughts and words about how the place “feels” to me. I am driven to enhance the color of the scene in order to express my emotional memories of the moment. I am drawn to images of fleeting moments, the patterns and textures of light, the illumination and shape of objects. Something about a scene I choose to paint is at once compelling to me and part of an everyday encounter. My foremost interest in painting is the effective use of color in creating emotional and visual depth. When people look at my paintings, I think the first thing they notice is the vibrant color. I’m not even sure I see color in the same way as everyone else. Does everyone perceive the world in terms of the language of color? It’s a wonderful paradox to ponder – what color do you “see”, what color do I “see”, what color is “real”?
My personal philosophy of color is to express emotional meaning through color. I believe this is the purpose of art, to express the story of being alive at a particular time. Art is the physical manifestation of the emotional and spiritual nature of an artist’s response to the world around them, and the world within them. Throughout the years I’ve worked in all media and I’ve researched and studied the many ways color is used to express emotion, perspective and temperature. From my research I teach classes on Color Theory and wrote a workbook for my students called ‘The Philosophy of Color,’ published in 2004.
I was born in Washington, DC. and educated at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. I received a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. I have exhibited my paintings in galleries in Virginia and California, as well as many private collections. My teaching career includes being an Instructor of Color Theory at The Art Institute of California in San Diego, educating at workshops in Santa Fe, Pasadena, the Golden Door in Escondido and at my studio in Escondido . My paintings have won numerous awards from juried shows such as: The San Diego Pastel Society, The Escondido Municipal Gallery, San Dieguito Art Guild and San Diego Watercolor Society. I have been included in “Who’s Who in the World” as well as “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who in Education.”
